How do you study the Bible? What translation do you use? Where and when do you pray? How do you pray? These are foundational questions and yet most Christians don’t know the answers or even where to find the answers.

That’s what’s in Good Morning as well as three weeks of daily devotionals in the Gospel of John that will walk you through the process. Perhaps even more important, Good Morning will help you to establish a daily habit of time with God, a habit that will lead to a lifetime of godly devotion.

“Very early in the morning,” according to Mark 1:35, “while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Like everything Jesus did, it served a purpose but also served as a model for his disciples.

As far as purpose, Jesus was pulled in every direction and needed to ground himself daily in his Father’s presence. As far as a model, it would be difficult to point to any devout man or woman of faith, who didn’t follow Jesus’ model and begin their day (or end it) with time devoted to God, and I suppose that’s why it took on the name of a “devotional time”: it is time devoted to God before devoting our time to anything else. There just isn’t a greater priority than daily, uninterrupted time in prayer and Scripture.
